Facebook Plugin and Login Problems

Posted by webmaster Tue Nov 30, 1999 12:00 am

The comment and likes section of our CMS and website are down. More than 718 reports to Downdetector since 3:00 am.

I was working on some code and thought all of a sudden I must have done something somehow to cause these plugins and the Facebook app login to stop working. I'm glad I looked carefully and inspected my other domains.

Turns out Facebook did something somehow to cause everything to stop working, and as usual they leave you in confusion wondering what is going on. I don't think I have ever even gotten a response from a Facebook employee ever. I have to assume they just don't care and it's obvious by the way they never respond, reply or get back to anyone who submits any kind of report at all.

The number one reason people connect with Facebook is the social plugins for likes and comments. This is something that could be duplicated through a rather simple but sophisticated API. I have no idea why nobody has done it yet.

As far as using Facebook to log in to a website, well most people use Google or Github to log in to the places they visit nowadays.

Turns out if you want to set up a Facebook SDK or set up a Facebook login for your website you have to have an IQ of 160 or at least a 4-year college reading comprehension level to understand the things you read about. There is no reason that they can't provide better help and easier-to-understand instructions for newbies and 1st-time developers.

They did not patent the like button or ability to store comments, and all this can be done on your own website via MySQL or MariaDB if you will. Facebook is going to dwindle to nothing if they don't start offering some incentive for us to have any level of interest at all.

You could add the Google, Twitter, and Github login API and write your own drop-in plugin with Java for comments and likes.

We use Facebook login, likes, and plugins because it is connected to the largest social network in the world, however, the key thing here is we made Facebook what it is today and we are responsible for the lackadaisical user support we are getting, this is our fault because we have allowed it.

I'm left sitting here wondering when the hell my website will go back to normal all the while pondering how many people I know that hate clicking the confirm button when liking something on a Facebook website app. It's ridiculous and intentional. They do that why? who fuck knows but it's probably on the top of my ten most annoying things list.

Seems like too many generation X kids have been running the show over at Facebook and 10 bucs says they go belly up sooner or later as a result.

Nobody wants to click a like button 2 times. What do you want to bet that if you spoke to the person that came up with that idea that you wouldn't walk away wondering who the fuck ties his shoes every morning? I would have to say this is or would probably be one of the dumbest shit heads that you would ever have to meet in your life.

I would like to apologize for my language and I'm sorry but I'm not.

Sincerely,

Posted by webmaster Tue Nov 30, 1999 12:00 am

Thank you for choosing Nuke-Evolution Xtreme, we hope you enjoy using our Network CMS and we appreciate all the feedback and donations. This website is using the 2.0.9F Core engine and we are very proud to say so. This is the network version of Nuke-Evolution Xtreme. Some folks are not a general part of the network and just want a regular website or portal and in those instances, we set up (US Version). Understanding which one you need is a big part of starting an online presence. The decision is one that we can help you with...
